19 Oct 2007 - More width than a broadband package
Hello out there in wonderland. It's all been going on - Madonna signs with a Live Promoter, Tesco sponsors the Spice Girls reunion tour and Radiohead pull off a master stroke.
Rant#1
Everyone gets their music in an instant these days and if they cant wait for the release date then they'll get it by other means - unless of course you are Radiohead who have used their 'not quite
the final version' of their 'In Rainbows' download album as a marketing tool for their bells and whistles album release early next year. They have given their fans something for free yet have still managed to average 3-4 squid for an album download - more than the kickback from a record label deal.. plus they have actually increased their potential customer base just in time for the £49 album release next year - genius.
As for paperecordings - well we always did fly in the face of fashion and bounce on the bandwith of broadband. We will continue to be paper even if it is offering a superlative service for artists to gain profile in the stacked up music world that is 2007+
