The Bionics is a studio project consisting of Paper honcho Ben Davis (Flash Atkins) with Crazy P’s Danielle Moore and Tim Davies. They released the Solid Silver album on Bocajito Records in 2007 to great acclaim for it’s meshing of styles like house, disco, funk, rock and soul.

The lead track was Love Chains which is a slow burning deep houser that starts with a nagging one note bass and Danielle’s plaintive vocals before heading on to disco territory. It got spins in clubs worldwide and made fans of DJs like The Unabombers, PBR Streetgang and Greg Wilson.

Love Chains comes with a remix package that covers all bases. First off is the hotly tipped Melbourne based Mic Newman (Fantasticman) who has been flagged up by Juno and Resident Advisor as one to watch for 2011. Mic’s take demonstrates why his star is in the ascendant with a deep house bubbler built around a Rhodes riff that funks and turns, pitched down vocals and rock solid drum programming. It’s a mix that will do the business early doors, peak time or late night.

Max Essa returns to the Paper fold after making his first appearance on the label in 1997. He demonstrates why he’s at the forefront of the nu-disco movement with a remix that begins with an NRG bassline and percussion then takes the parts and weaves them together to create some quality space disco.

Finally, Manchester’s unsung DJ hero Neil Diablo has used the full vocal and kept it disco with off kilter drums, pads and an analogue bass that is pure 80s disco put through El Diablo’s dancefloor.
