B.G.Baarregaard – Partysvenskenes Dans EP

Paper’s Scandinavian connection continues with this release from one of Oslo’s finest residents. Although hailing from Reykjavik, B.G Baarregaard now resides in in Norway’s capital and its influence is clearly stamped all over this brilliant EP.

Partysvenskenes Dans has the kind of warm ‘n wobbly happenings that we’ve come to know and love from the scandi disco output. Plenty of resonance & space with a hint of Inspector Norse mean this treads on the right side of camp & kitsch whilst managing to pack enough of a stomp to ensure it blows up a dance floor.

(Got Me) Runnin’ jumps on a plane and heads straight to the late 80’s / early 90’s Manchester club scene. Big piano stabs and a classic vocal make it a real late night jacked out affair with everything here from the glory years of clubbing.

Konur Go Karlar seems to take on board both its predecessors to deliver a cut that is drenched in cosmicness as well as a nod to classic UK house. Simple, down the middle & hooky there’s enough going on to please those that favour discos and late night dancing dens.

Sleazy McQueen – “BG’s work is marked by some of the finest production quality in the modern disco scene. Partysvenskenes Dans sounds like BG’s been drinking the Norwegian-Disco kool-aid!”

Proviant Audio – Like Never Before

1. Original

2. Sleazy McQueen Mix

3. 2 Billion Beats Mix

4. Ste Spandex Live Hardware Mix

Proviant Audio are back with the second single from their album “Drifty Days & Disco Nights” that DJ Mag described as being “BETTER than Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories”.
It’s a shimmering piece of good time disco that has shades of the 80s and an earworm of a hook. With horns and synths backing up the vocals plus a full band and next level production it’s like summer is still here.

Florida resident and the man behind Whiskey Disco Sleazy McQueen takes things more 4/4 but retains the spirit of the original. It’s got plenty of atmosphere, a locked down bass, handclaps and lovely touches that give it a deep hypnotic feel.

2 Billion Beats go a bit more high energy with a bouncing kick and nagging sample but with their love of all things 80s shining through. The production is kept sparse, ready for the Rhodes that is given free range to do it’s thing and so it does!

Finally Manchester’s hotly tipped Wet Play resident Ste Spandex turns in a distorted nu-school banger. Taking the vocal and parts he stamps his style on it, driving the mix in to peaktime territory .

Rune Lindbaek – Aceness!

The Dead Rose Music Company – Love this!

Lewis Dene – Hauntingly simple and very affective.

Will Tramp – Nice. Lovely stuff!

Patski Love – Sleazy is the winner!

Q-Burns Abstract Message – Mr. McQueen’s groovy treatment is the one for me here … on point.

Cowbell Radio – Lovely stuff, nice choice of remixes but it’s 2 Billion Beats that tip the scales for me (natch)! As always, guaranteed to get people bouncing!

Tensnake – It’s a musthave for sure.

DJ Wrighty (Soul Buggin’) – 2 Billion Beats mix is the the one for me, it gives it a big disco injection.

Dean “Sunshine” Smith – Original for me, a nice slice of shimmer.

Gareth Sommerville – 2 Billion Beats is bestest.

Stuart Knight (Toolroom) – Nice slab of 80s vibes on a friday… thank you chaps
full support.

Cesare Cera aka Black Mighty Wax – Super!! great reworks from Sleazy McQueen and 2 Billion Beats.

Severino Panzetta (Horsemeat Disco) – Great SLEAZY McQueen remix!!

Get Down Edits – Sleazy Mc Queen mix stands out on first listen .

Tim “Love” Lee – Love Proviant Audio!

Danielle Moore (Crazy P) – Fierce collection fave being the Sleazy…all great remixes and v different!

Ulysses – The Sleazy McQueen makes it more disco, which is a good thing, but the Ste Spandex remix does the best job.

Billy Scurry – Toss up between billion beats and sleazy.. really great remixes.

Christophe (Futureboogie) – Aces.

Frank Lihaug – Brilliant package. Sleazy McQueen is the BOMB!

Paper Cuts #1 Oslo launch party

Paper and its DJ family continue to spread its deep house and disco blends across the continent with another of its infamous Scandinavian knees ups…

DJ Leca, Kahuun and Flash Atkins hit Oslo

Paper Cuts launch at Turkish Delight, Oslo

THE TREATMENT’S TOP NORWEGIAN CLUBS

Brukbar / Supa, Trondheim
Legendary bar with a legendary basement, Brukbar is the bar and Supa is the club with strictly good vibes represented on a Funktion One soundsystem.

Cafe Contra Bar, Bergen
Managed by Frank Lihaug, this place always seems to have great music, great people and a friendly atmosphere. People get down to all sorts of disco madness that starts off easy and ends up crazy.

Fugazi, Oslo
Really nice backyard boogie where the music varies but its usually a great experience. Last I checked it out, Toomy Disco was playing some dope tunes.

Turkish Delight, Oslo
Sort of a hidden gem in Oslo. I had the pleasure of kicking it there listening to a way out set by Erik Fra Bergen and hadn’t heard that much great boogie and funk madness in a while. I highly recommend this head for the headnodders. Such a delight!

Rave-enka – Rett I Kroppen EP

Noway keep coming up with producers who offer something fresh and exciting in a world where rave by numbers is often the norm. The next one to look out for is De Fantastiske To’s Rave-enka who mixes up techno, house and disco into a unique arctic stew as this EP perfectly demonstrates.

Rett I Kroppen is an epic disco-tech number purpose built from the ground up for maximum dance floor damage. It’s all about the release and build of the horn and string heavy sample for a track that can cross genres and comes off like a Paperclip People for 2016.

Honningen is just perfect house music; using the raw ingredients of a groove that swings and sample it demonstrates why the best ideas are often the simplest. Add in an arp, some filtering, a dash of Detroit plus dynamics and you have something that sounds like a Scandinavian Moodymann track.

Rett I Fletta brings in a 90s Strictly vibe but keeps things stripped back. Garage drums and analogue bass drive it along before cutting to a pure NYC synth stab for a Sound Factory Bar kind of joint.

Finally, the man who can, Richard Seaborne takes Honningen and beefs things up. With added vocal samples there is no way this can miss and he takes it back to a similar place as his Todd Terje and Tensnake rocking Is This Acid? Expect similar results.

Rave-enka is busy in his bunker recording us an album so expect more block rockers in 2016.

Mark Farina – “Dig these”

Justin Robertson – Great release”

Sleazy McQueen – “Too far gone, Norway back”

Harri (Sub CLub) – “Liking a few of these, full support”

Tronik Youth – “Ret I Kroppen for me great stuff”

Fingerman – “Like the main track but Richard’s remix is next level gear!”

Aldrin Zouk – “Richard Seaborne Remix on point! Also diggin’ Rett I Kroppen.”

Billy Scurry – “Ticks all the boxes, in all the right ways!! so much YES!”

Pablo Contraband – “This is fantastic – Reyy I Kroppen for me Rich’s remix is tasty too – flashback to Bizarre Inc!”

Neil Diablo – “WALLOP! Rett I Kroppen is my pick but this is a great EP.”

Murray Richardson – “Brilliant stuff loving this and perfect for Rebel Waltz in London this Saturday…Rett Kroppen is the one”

Keith Dalton (Groovement Soul) – “WOW, love this. Proper dancefloor bangers. Every track has the perfect amount of Disco vibes with that techy or rave edge. Heaven.”

Leon Sweet – “I’m a big fan of Ravi’s work and this doesn’t disappoint. Quailty tackle and diggin Mr Seaborne’s cheeky little remix too. Rett I Kroppen is pick of the
bunch for me.”
