Paper Recordings’ legendary club night Robodisco is back for ‘one night only’ of mayhem as a tribute to fallen friend and Robo hero Rob ‘O Shea.

Robodisco ran in Manchester though the 90s and 00s, earning its status as one of the UK’s best clubs for underground house. Alongside residents Miles Hollway, Elliot Eastwick, Ben Davis and Erik Rug, it hosted some of the world’s finest DJs including Derrick Carter, Josh Wink, Lil Louis, Jaques Lu Cont, Romanthony, Ashley Beedle, Kenny Hawkes as well as showcasing Paper’s homegrown sounds.

This one-off event has some of Rob’s DJ friends to brig the noise and the party, so dust off the Gio-Goi, break out your whistle and start practising your moves. ITS ON!

All profits will go to St Luke’s Hospice.

200 Years of Paper Recordings

The excellent Undeleted (Sean Smith to his Mum) has written as retrospective of Paper to coincide with out 200th EP that is on the horizon. It has contributions from some of the people who have been on it including Miles Hollway, Sleazy McQueen, Danni & Chris from Crazy P, Chris Massey, Ben Davis, Rune Lindbaek and a host of others.
It’s a wonderful read brings back a whole host of memories.

Crazy P – Give it Up – Remastered in Berlin by Alain Paul at One Million Mangoes

This is one of those mix projects set up by chance which ended up producing one of the best slices of music on the label. John Andersson and Johan Emmoth from Zoo Brazil (LAID) produced their remix with an 80’s influenced guitar and synth…In fact Stuart Price (Les Rhythm Digitales) used this on his Fabric mix compilation to great acclaim, in addition Faze Action set down perfect rhythm induced disco fare and Reset (Salt City Orchestra’s alter ego) provide the final audio magic. This remastered release (Alain Paul from One Million Mangoes in Berlin) includes all the vocal and dub mixes that were produced in the series.

“Paper Music are currently riding high in the album charts with their Paper Cuts #1 compilation, a collection of their finest moments from the last five years or so. As some of you may know I provided the sleeve notes for the CD version of Paper Cut’s and in support of the release I thought it would be cool to go through my Paper Music collection and dig out a selection of my personal favourites from the first 10 years of the label (1993 – 2003). All the tracks in the mix can be purchased from Juno or from Paper directly and I’ve also included a link to the Paper Cuts compilation – just in case you haven’t already bought it. :)
