We released our first record, Salt City Orchestra’s The Book, in 1994, a time when you could smoke inside, clubs still shut at 2 am, and DJ mixes were swapped on cassette. To mark the occasion, we asked friends, artists and DJs from our long history to pick a favourite moment and write a few words about it.
The resulting compilation includes big hitters, forgotten gems, bangers old and new (the full write-up can be found on the Paper blog), offering a glimpse into a catalogue of over 400 EPs and albums, released across five sub-labels from over 400 artists based in over 50 countries, that run the gamut of electronic house, disco and Balearic; plus two feature films and too many parties and club nights to mention.
But after a quick glimpse in the rear-view mirror, we decided we still love the house community that has given us so much; we continue forever onwards.
